Reason · strategize · competeContest-style math asks students to make decisions before the procedure is clear. The goal is not simply faster school math; it is stronger reasoning, strategy selection and comfort with unfamiliar problems.

Algorithms · efficiency · workflowWe use the target contest to guide question style, strategy and pacing. Exact placement depends on grade, foundations, readiness and contest season.
Students practise non-routine reasoning, pattern recognition, strategy selection and contest-style pacing.
We use AMC-style problems when the student’s level and goals make that pathway appropriate.
What it is: Waterloo CEMC’s beginner-friendly computing challenge for Grades 5–10. It develops computational and logical thinking and does not require students to write code.
What it is: Waterloo’s programming competition with Junior and Senior levels. Students solve algorithmic problems by designing, coding, testing and debugging complete solutions.
What it is: A widely used online algorithmic programming contest with Bronze and higher divisions. Students can progress as their algorithms and data-structure skills grow.
For advanced students: stronger programmers can work on harder CCC Senior and CCO-style problems. The Canadian Computing Olympiad (CCO) itself is invitation-only for top official CCC Senior participants.
For Math Contest Prep, students should be reasonably secure with current school math and willing to stay with a problem when the route is unclear. For Coding Contest Prep, students should already be comfortable writing and debugging code before adding algorithmic time pressure.
Starting too early can turn enrichment into frustration. Starting at the right time makes unfamiliar problems feel motivating rather than random.
Choose a weekly frequency first, then combine eligible tracks when level and schedule allow.
Each recurring class is 60 minutes. Track availability depends on student readiness, contest season, instructor fit and the recurring schedule.
No. Math Contest Prep focuses on non-routine reasoning rather than repairing school-math gaps. Coding Contest Prep focuses on algorithms and efficient problem solving rather than introductory coding. Students who need school support should start with Math Booster; coding beginners should start with the Coding track.
Not necessarily. The track can build the underlying habits first. When a specific contest is relevant, the instructor can align practice with its style, timing and level.
Yes, with a 2× or 3× weekly membership if the student is ready and the recurring schedule has appropriate classes available.
